No matter how careful we are with super glue, it almost always finds a way to stick to our skin.

The best way to prevent this is to wear gloves. But if you forget this step, removing that plastic superglue is frustrating.

Here are two fast and easy ways to remove super glue from your fingers:

Use nail polish remover
If it contains the ingredient acetone, you're in luck. Simply pour it onto the affected area, and it should either dissolve the super glue (or start peeling off).

Warning: don't use a cotton ball or swab - this is a surefire way to create a violent reaction.

Apply petroleum jelly
Wash your hands in hot, soapy water.

Then apply a light amount of petroleum jelly to the affected area.

Using very gentle pressure, begin rubbing the super glued area with a standard fingernail file. The jelly helps to protect your skin from damage as you file and also helps the super glue adhesive to start to roll off of your skin. Patiently rub with a gentle pressure until the super glue is removed from your skin.

(If you don't have a nail file, use fine sandpaper.)

Finally, dry your hands and apply hand lotion to keep your skin soft.
