secret mentors

How I exploit secret mentors to inspire me to get more done

What are secret mentors?

They are industry leaders that secretly help guide me to become better at my work.

And they are secret because they do not know me personally (yet).

Currently I have 5 secret mentors that have made big differences in my life.

My secret mentors are:

secret mentors Casey Neistat

Casey Neistat

Casey is a YouTube short-film maker based in New York city.

He kicked up his game a HUGE notch by creating, editing and publishing a daily vlog (video log).

These daily videos are not quickly thrown together. I am certain he invests at least 4 to 7 hours a day – every day (even weekends and holidays).

Casey’s commitment to make things happen is astonishing.

I list him first, because he has motivated me the most.

secret mentors James Altucher

James and Claudia Altucher

James is a train wreck.

He admits it.

But James is authentic and transparent.

His honesty puts off a lot of people. But it is a breath of fresh air for me.

Also, James is also one of the savviest, worldly and wisest people I know. No one comes close.

His rags to riches to rags to riches to rags to riches story is bizarre, breathtaking and motivating.

Claudia is his wife.

She is from South America.

James is a clone of Allan Stewart Konigsberg (Woody Allen). This makes for an entertaining duo.

The Altuchers are content creation machines.

They even wrote a book about it called How To Become An Idea Machine.

The book suggests to generate lists of 10 new ideas every day.

This works out our idea muscle.

Besides their daily podcast, the Altuchers offer a premium monthly newsletter.

And my favorite topic they write about is the Power Of Saying No.

It is brilliant.

And mastering the word no has freed up a ton of time for me.

secret mentors Louis Cole

Louis Cole

This daily video blogger helped motivate me to create daily content.

Every day, Louis films his latest adventure and posts it to YouTube.

As I write this, Louis has published 885 videos.

secret mentors John Gruber

John Gruber

Every single day, John publishes DaringFireball (a simple blog about Apple Computer).

He pioneered a unique sponsorship model that brings in a whopping $9,500.00 weekly. The twist is just one advertiser gets featured each week. It is a brilliant model that comfortably funds John’s daily writing.

secret mentors Seth Godin

Seth Godin

Seth is one of the original daily bloggers I know.

He is wise beyond his years and publishes solid ideas.

And he is rewarded with a loyal base of fans.

There are no comments’ section or ads.

His site is pure content.

There are no pictures. Just plain-vanilla text.

He makes money selling books and speaking gigs.

And he blogs every single day.
